Penerapan Prinsip-Prinsip Pendidikan Progresif John Dewey Pada Mata Pelajaran Akidah Akhlak Di Smp Muhammadiyah 7 Program Unggulan Colomadu

This study examines the application of the principle of learning by doing in learning Aqidah and Akhlak at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Colomadu Program Unggulan. This approach is based on John Dewey's progressive education theory which emphasizes direct experience and reflection as the core of learning. Through worship practices, social projects, and digital preaching, students are invited to understand religious values applicatively. This writing uses a descriptive qualitative research type with interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The results of the study indicate that the success of implementation is greatly influenced by teacher role models, active learning, and a supportive school environment. The main obstacles come from external factors such as family and social environment. This study emphasizes the importance of collaboration between teachers, students, and parents in shaping the character and functional piety of students through real experiences. The results of this study are the application of learning by doing in learning Aqidah and Akhlak at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Colomadu shows a progressive and contextual educational approach. Students not only receive material theoretically, but are also invited to practice it directly through real practices such as duha prayer, infaq, and preaching through social media. Despite showing encouraging results, the implementation of learning by doing is not free from challenges or obstacles such as limited learning time and constraints on facilities and infrastructure.
